Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Track-Subs, from data safety to pricing to how the AI detection engine works.

Getting Started

How does Track-Subs find my subscriptions?
Track-Subs connects to your Gmail (read-only) and scans receipt and billing emails. Our two-layer detection engine uses deterministic pattern matching for 60+ known providers (Netflix, Spotify, Adobe, etc.) and AI classification for everything else. Prices, billing cycles, renewal dates, and currencies are all extracted automatically — no manual entry needed.
Do I need to connect my bank account?
No. Track-Subs works entirely through email receipt scanning. No Plaid, no bank credentials, no financial data sharing. This is what makes it work globally — not just in the United States. If a service sends you a receipt or billing notification by email, Track-Subs can detect it.
Does it work with Outlook or Microsoft 365?
Gmail is fully supported today. Outlook and Microsoft 365 support is on the roadmap and coming soon. Sign up with your Gmail to get started now, and we'll notify you when Outlook is available.
How many subscriptions can it detect?
The engine recognizes 60+ providers out of the box — streaming services, AI tools, hosting, VPN, design tools, and more. For services not in the catalog, the AI layer analyzes email patterns to identify unknown subscriptions. Most users discover 2–5 subscriptions they had forgotten about.

Privacy & Security

Is my email data safe with Track-Subs?
Yes. We request read-only Gmail access — Track-Subs can never send, delete, or modify your emails. Email content is processed in real-time during a scan and is not stored permanently. Only extracted subscription metadata (service name, price, billing cycle) is saved to your encrypted profile, protected by row-level security policies.
What permissions does Track-Subs request?
Track-Subs requests Gmail read-only scope (gmail.readonly). This means it can read email messages to find subscription receipts but cannot compose, send, delete, or modify any email. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account settings.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
When you delete your account, all subscription data, profile information, and scan history are permanently removed from our servers. We do not retain any user data after account deletion.

Pricing & Plans

Is Track-Subs free?
Yes. The free plan lets you track up to 10 subscriptions with 1 scan per month, plus access to the spending dashboard and renewal calendar. The Pro plan ($6.99/month or $59.99/year) adds unlimited subscriptions, unlimited scans, savings tracking, cancellation assistant, CSV export, and email reminders.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account settings at any time. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period. All plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee — no questions asked.
What currencies does Track-Subs support?
Track-Subs supports multiple currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, and MAD. Currency codes are automatically normalized from your email receipts. The spending dashboard displays amounts in their original currency.

Comparison

How is Track-Subs different from Rocket Money?
Rocket Money requires bank account access via Plaid and is US-focused. Track-Subs uses email receipt scanning instead — no bank connection needed. This means it works globally, supports multiple currencies, and doesn't require sharing financial credentials. See the full comparison →
How is Track-Subs different from TrackMySubs?
TrackMySubs is a manual subscription tracker — you enter each subscription by hand. Track-Subs automatically detects subscriptions by scanning your Gmail receipts using AI. No manual data entry required. See the full comparison →
How does the AI detection engine work?
Layer 1 is deterministic pattern matching against a catalog of 60+ known providers — matching by sender domain, subject keywords, and body patterns. Layer 2 uses temperature-0 AI models (with provider rotation across Groq, Gemini, Mistral, and Anthropic) for emails that Layer 1 cannot classify. Both layers extract price, billing cycle, renewal date, and currency automatically. The result is deterministic — the same emails produce the same results every time.
